Mumbai, 10 Sep, 2014: Thiya Samaja Mumbai® celebrated seventieth anniversary at Dr M Vishveshwarayya auditorium of Karnataka Sangha Karnataka® auditorium, Matunga (West) here on Sunday September 7.
The metro-based Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (NGO) was the chief guest of the occasion.
Akhila Karnataka Jain Sangh® president B Muniraj Jain, renowned medical practitioner Dr Karunakar Bangera, Sasihitlu Bhagavati Thiya Sangh president Chandrahas Palan, Kanila Bhagavati Seva Sangh president Ravi S Manjeshwar, Thiya Samaja Dubai® former president Roshan S Bolar were the guests of honor.
Thiya Samaja Mumbai® president Chandrashekar Belchada along with dignitaries inaugurated the programme.
Thiya community achievers renowned cardiac surgeon Dr Dayanand K Kumbla, social activist Timmappa K Bangera, renowned gynecologist Dr Hemalata Sunil, Divya R Kotian, Sujata Sudhakar Ucchil, renowned writer and poet Hema Sadanand Amin and Vrunda Dinesh were felicitated on the same occasion.
The scholarship was distributed to the talented students of community.
Dr Karunakar Bangera after launching the log of Thiya Samaja Mumbai® said the association has contributed significantly for the community in metro, said Dr Bangera.
Dr Dayanand said that self realization on life leads one to live meaningful living. The community can surge in progress by collective efforts. Thiya community has achieved progress by education and are settled across the nation and overseas, said Dr Kumbla.
Jayakrishna Shetty after inaugurating www/thiayasamaja.com expressed happiness over the backward community of Thiya Samaj is completing 70-years because of farsightedness of its veterans. In this twenty-first century, casteism is unjustified, one has to love people of different castes.
Chandrashekar R Belchada in his presidential address said that community can be empowered by an Association, by identifying themselves with the Association.
Vishwanat U K delivered the introductory address. Padmanabha Sasihitlu rendered the prayers and compered the programme. The honorary chief secretary Babu Ail proposed vote of thanks.
Moksha, Tulu play was presented by the artistes of Kalajagattu theater group directed by Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty. The variety cultural shows were also presented as part of entertainment programme.
