Udupi/Shankerpura, 18 Aug 2014: For the last 15 years on 13th August, Rotary Shankerpura is conducting ‘Prathibanveshane’ Talent Hunt competition exclusively for six Interact Clubs sponsored by Rotary Club of Shankerpura with the common goal to bring then in one platform to exhibit their talents. The event is being sponsored by Rtn. Francis D’Sa couple on the occasion of their wedding anniversary which falls on 13th August.
This year also various competition like Elocution, Pick and act, Folk Dance. Patriotic songs and Quiz were arranged. The centre of the attraction was different group folk dances. The folk dance called ‘Kamsali’ a popular dance of Mysore performed by Interact members of St. John’s Academy won first place.
Patriotic songs sung by the Interact students were highlighting the high moral they have imbibed. Elocution was based on Advantages and disadvantages of mobile phones usage among students. Excellent quiz was conducted by Quiz Master Rtn. Oliver Rebello. The Interact Club of S.V.H English Medium High School won first prize in Quiz. Overall performance and participation of the students was excellent.
The Club President Rtn.Jerome Rodrigues presided over the function. The event was inaugurated by sponsor Mrs. Agnes D’Sa by lighting lamp. In her inaugural speech she praised the students for their participation in large number and said that their participation is a big anniversary gift from them. Chief Guest Rtn. Jaganath Kote, District Interact Chairman praised Rotary Shankerpura for conducting such a nice events every year for the benefit of young minds. The Youth Service Director, Rtn. Anil D’Sa explained the rules of the competition. Also present on the dais Inner Wheel President Monica Saldanha and Secretary Pricilla Quadras. The judges for the event were Sri. Radhkrishna Prabhu, Head Master, Durgaparameshri School, Bantakal. Classical vocal and Dance Teachers Miss.Akshitha from Shirva, Mr. Kiran from Innanje.
Valedictory function was attended by Rtn. M.G.Nagendra, Assistant Governor, Zone III, RI Dist 3180 and Zonal Lieutenant Rtn. Dr. Gururaj.K. The prizes were distributed by sponsor Rtn. Francis D’Sa. He lauded the Interact members for their participation and told them to come in large numbers in future events. The Event Co-ordinator and Director International Service Rtn. John Rodriggues announced the winner and proposed the vote of thanks. Finally the best Interact Club Trophy went St. John’s Academy Shankerpura for their outstanding performance was presented by Rotary President Rtn.Jerome Rodrigues.
