Mangalore, Aug 12, 2014 : MLC Ivan D’Souza announced that a new municipal commissioner will take charge of office within 3 days.
MLC Ivan announced this during a media conference held at Hotel Ocean Pearl, here on Monday August 11.
When media persons asked MLC Ivan, what action he has taken to appoint the new municipal commission, the post that was vacant for almost a month; MLC Ivan said that a new municipal commissioner will take charge of office within 3 days and he denied revealing the identity of the officer.
MLC Ivan mainly called the media conference to explain his work as MLC in the legislative council.
MLC Ivan said, ‘I have taken Dakshina Kannada as my nodal district. I have asked 38 questions within a period of 20 days on various issues, such as labour commissioner’s office, new service bus stand, and other issues related to city,’ said MLC Ivan.
MLC Ivan further said that he has appealed to the state government to include Tulu in the eighth schedule of Indian Constitution. The state government replied that the proposal has been forwarded to union government and its up to Tulu speaking community to follow up in this regard, said MLC Ivan.
MLC Ivan also urged the state government to approve a regional bench of the High court at Mangalore. The law minister has assured to look into the matter and in majority of the cases in which he has raised the questions he has received positive responses.
Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee designated president Ibrahim Kodijal, former mayor Sasidar Hegde, youth Congress leaders, Merrill Lobo, Alistair Bejai were present at the media conference.
