M’lore: Humorist CGS Taccode bags Konkani Kutam Award

Mangalore, 20 Jul 2014: Konkani Kutam Bahrain announced Konkani Kutam Award – 2014 to confer on renowned Konkani humorist Cyril Gregory Sequeira (CJS) Taccode. He was chosen for his five-decades of contributions to Konkani as columnist, humor writer, short story writer and novelist. He is also a Konkani crusader.
The Award function will be held at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, Bendore, here on Saturday July 26.
Goa Konknni Academi chairman Pundalika Naik will preside the programme here on Saturday at 6.30pm.
The columnist and Kannada Professor Dr Narendra Rai Derla will be the chief guest of the occasion.
The Konkani veteran columnist and litterateur Eddy Netto will be the guest of honor.
About CGS Taccode
He is known to Konkani speaking community with the pen name CGS Taccode.
He ventured into Konkani literature at his age of twelve-years. Although he has contributed immensely in every sphere of Konkani, he is well known for humor. He has authored humor stories, such as Pugetyo, Pokana, Grahachar, Sursuryo, Kuchulyo, Maskiryo, Chirmulyo, Hi Hai Dubai, Bulvule, Sulsule, etc and etc. It is rich in mockery of extravaganza, enlightening for social reform – all that earned him a name and fame in Konkani.
He worked as editor of Konkani monthlies Kanik and Umalo, Raknno weekly. He is the playwright of Samsar, Haschengi Radchen, Pitul, Badyachi Baail, Yeklen Yeksurem, Jirgi Mirsang, Diana and etc. He is also an accomplished poet and a translator. He is an ace comperer.
Goa Basha Mandal conferred award to CGS authored Konkani collection of story book ‘Dukam’ and play ‘Pitul.’ He has also bagged awards from Daiji Dubai, Sandesha, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and other awards.
CGS was born in Taccode in Moodbidri taluk of Dakshina Kannada district during 1951. He had worked a few years in Dubai and Qatar. CGS and his wife Sylvia have 2 children – Vijay and Vineeta. He lives with his wife at Ujjody, here.
