M’lore: Eric Ozario’s biography all set for release on May 18

Print Mangalore, 15 May 2014: The life and works of Eric Ozario, gurkaar of city-based leading Konkani cultural organization Mandd Sobhann will be released in the form of a biography — Eric Ozario — The Indefatigable Crusader at Kalaangann here on May 18. This day incidentally marks Eric’s 65 th birthday. The 318 pages book published by Notion Press, Chennai and priced at Rs 499 is authored by upcoming writer and engineer Royston Fernandes, Eric’s neighbour.
Eric told reporters that the project would not have seen light of the day but for the interest shown by Louis J Pinto, president of Mandd Sobhann. "A similar effort made to coincide with my 60 thbirthday was not fully realized," Eric said, adding to the earlier effort, the present biography is reflection of his life as it is. "There is no attempt to hide or alter any facet of my life, and all the trials and tribulations that have come with it," he said.
A main reason for Eric agreeing to give general public a peek in to his life is a conviction that it could perhaps inspire all those who want to fight for justice. "I could have played it safe," Eric opined adding that he has taken a risk in laying bare certain facets of his life that could put him in conflict with his well-wishers and donors. "I have bared my soul to Royston over a period of one year and he has expressed the various facets of my life," Eric added.
Leading NRI philanthropist Ronald Colaco will release the book. Sunney Tharappan will felicitate Eric, while Ravishankar Rao, faculty, department of English, Mangalore University will review the book. The entire proceeds from sale of the book will be donated to Jagotik Konknni Songhotton, Eric said. The book will be released in Goa at the Tiatr Academy, Panjim on May 24. Rony Arun will author the Konkani version of the book.
