Two thieves who had robbed temples in and around Moodubelle arrested

Moodubelle, 27 September 2010: There had been a spate of robberies in various temples in around Moodubelle since the beginning of this year. After many months of relentless investigation by the police, they have finally succeeded in arresting recently two robbers-Diwakara Achari and Ramesh Poojary , both residents of Kodibettu in the Kudi village. According to the police, Ramesh Poojary is originally from Chikkamagaluru.
Sub Inspector M. Venkappa Nayak of the Hiriyadka Police Station and Sub Inspector Mahesh Prasad of the Kota Police Station jointly conducted the investigation which led to the arrest of Diwakara Achari and Ramesh Poojary who were holed up in Vawadi of Pernankila village.

Shri Mahaganapati Temple-Pernankila
While interrogating these two robbers, it was found that they had conducted robberies of various articles in Shri Mahaganapati temple in Pernankila, Shri Vishnumoorthy temple at Moodu Alevooru, Mahalingeshwara temple in Moodubelle, Shri Uma Maheshwari temple in Padubelle and Shri Brahma Lingeshwara temple in Kattingeri. The police have recovered silver articles worth around two lakhs of rupees from these two temple robbers.

I remember, when I visited Moodubelle, I saw the temple was broken for theft the previous day as Pointed by you dear Eugenebab. It is nice to learn the culprits have been caught and booked after committing some more spate of similar thefts. Keep it up! both media and the Police. |
