Mangalore: St Aloysius College celebrates 134th College Day

Mangalore, 8 Mar 2014: ‘Education forms a strong foundation and makes students valuable people for the society. There are millions in our country who are deprived of education. Education must be available to all. And the ones who receive education must make the best use of the opportunity. It is not just intelligence that make people successful but determination. Quality education is that which shapes a student’s goal and helps in contributing to the country. Consistency in practice is the best way to achieve success in life,’ said Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo.
 
 
MLA Lobo was delivering chief guest’s address during 134th annual day celebrations of St Aloysius College here on Friday March 7.

 

 

 
 
‘Reinvent yourself and invent the future. Jesuit education believes in forming men and women for society. We need to look at the problem with a new dimension,’ said St Aloysius education institutions rector Fr Denzel Lobo in his presidential address.
 
 
Welcoming the gathering, Dr A M Narahari, convener of the programme said, ‘134th college day symbolizes the youthful ambition, the passionate dreams and the undying spirit of the institute to impart quality education to millions of students every passing year’ said Dr Narahari.
 
St Aloysius College principal Fr Swebert D’Silva, co-convener of programme Dr George Rodrigues, students council president Ponnanna N T were present at the dais.
 
 
The cultural and entertainment programme was one of the highlights of the college day. Veera gaase folkdance of Uttara kannada, Lavani folkdance of Maharashtra, Laasya Lahari - a treatise on the life of Lord Krishna, semi classical and western dances were performed by the students of the college.
 
 
The college day was attended by the guests, staff, the students and their parents.
