Mangalore: Dakshina Kannada Bundh opposing Yettinahole Project Successful in District

Mangalore, 4 Mar 2014: Dakshina Kannada (DK) bundh called by social welfare organizations and other environmental organizations opposing the proposed Yettinahole project, that the turning of lifeline Netravati River of coastal residents, on Monday March 2 was a huge success.

 
The city streets were deserted as the private bus operators including auto rickshaws called off their services in support of bundh.  A few motorists were found to be on the streets attending urgent tasks. The shops and restaurants, factories voluntarily closed.

 


 
The state-run buses were plying as usual even on long distance routes. The law enforcement agencies maintained strict vigil on the roads.

 
A few incidents of burning the effigy of politicians and tyres on the roads were reported, otherwise it was peaceful.
