Udupi, 25 Feb 2014: The Catholic Board of Education and Family Life Service Centre, Mangalore jointly organized a Value Education Seminar to school teachers on Tuesday, 25 February 2014 at St. Marys College Shirva. The seminar was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Cajetan Menezes, Director of Family Life Service Centre, Mumbai. Speaking on the occasion he said that today the responsibility is more on teachers to inculcate the values among the students. The most important thing that is needed today is the people with integrity and goodness. Besides the qualification, the consistency of performance of the candidate and his attitude also counts a lot for recruitment. There is more demand for good people in society and elsewhere. Schools should give first place to value education in their time table because most of the times any changes in time table would be made by dropping the value education classes which is a dangerous move.
Rev. Fr. Wilson Vitus DSouza, Secretary of Catholic Board of Education in his presidential remarks said that the programme was the 68th conducted for the benefit of teachers. He further said that the Board gives first preference to Value Education in all educational institutions. Students passing out from the schools and colleges managed by the CBE have been known for their values too. He said the programme was organized for the representative teachers of various schools coming under the Udupi Diocese. He emphasized that teachers participating in the seminar should carry the knowledge to their respective schools and see that it reaches every student.
Rev. Fr. Santosh Rodrigues, Director of Family Life Service Centre, Mangalore Diocese spoke about the family mission and introduced the resource person Fr. Cajetan Menezes. Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Correspondent of St. Mary’s Educational Institutions, Shirva cordially welcomed all the guests and delegates.
