Mangalore, 23 Jan 2014 : The people of Karnataka were fed up of misrule by BJP-led state government with recurring communal flare ups; chose Congress during the last assembly elections, trusting the law and order situation will improve and the people will live in harmony.  Meanwhile, even after Congress began the reign, with assurances of maintaining strict law and order situation, curbing overtures of Hindu fundamentalists and Muslim fanatics; there has been further acceleration of incidents wherein fundamentalists supported by saffron wings resort to moral policing, which has caused untold miseries to innocent brethrens of either communities, said K L Ashok, state chief secretary of Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike.

Addressing the media persons at Hotel Woodlands, here on Wednesday January 22 at 4.00pm, Ashok further said that as per their interim-fact-finding report, Hindu fundamentalists have an agenda to cause communal flare ups ahead of forthcoming general elections, to garner pro-Hindu support, by instigating communal hatredness in the regions of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikmagalur and Hassan districts.  The state administration has failed to take bold stance in curbing such incidents that threaten the secular fabric of society, said Ashok.

Ashok added that the state administration has to curb the overtures of communal forces in several guises that has clear objective of causing enmity among different communities for political gains ahead of general elections.  Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike urges the state administration to uphold democratic values and secularity that is threatened owing to ongoing overtures of communal forces.

Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike Dakshina Kannada district president Suresh Bhat Bakrebail, district vice president Ali Hassan, PUCL state president P B D’Sa, AHINDA president Vishwanat and others were present on the occasion.
