Abu Dhabi : Christmas Celebration by Konkan Pearls

Abu Dhabi, 19 Dec 2013: While whole of Abu Dhabi was in a week-end mood, Konkan Pearls were in an effervescent mood celebrating Christmas on the 13th Dec. It was together with the monthly meet with guests, members, both current & new. The talent group has taken a new birth under the leadership of Mr. Wilfred Fernandes, which began with a promise to every talent. The monthly meetings and arrangements were equipped to serve as a podium to all talents.

 

The venue was housed with good many talents. President Wilfy welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests. The celebration began with prayer and thanksgiving to the Almighty, followed by a beautiful hymn -sung by Maxim and Divya.

 

New members made their self-introduction. General Secretary, Nanditha read the previous meeting report in Konkani and members passed it with amendments.

 

 

 

A Christmas Carols video shoot was organized on this occasion by Paul. All sang and danced to the carols. Santa’s iconic appearance made the children excited and the distribution of chocolates and gifts made it even more. The video can be viewed through the following link:

A beautiful Christmas cake took the center stage. The birthday & anniversary celebrants gave a good slice at the cake.

 

The Main attraction of the event was a Christmas message (elocution) in Konkani by master Mclean Fernandes and a beautiful poetry recitation by Aurelle Pinto. Both narrated the Natalan Festh, Kuswar, Crib, Star and everything associated with Natalan Festh in a rhythm of our ethnic habitat.  All cheered and congratulated them. This was the maiden effort by Konkan Pearls to promote Konkani among children in line with the group objective. President Wilfy urged the parents to encourage the children to speak in Konkani and to take part in such activities that retains our culture & tradition. He also said the group will focus in  more of such activities for our children to grow in the direction.  Joshal Lobo was an obvious choice to speak on “Nave Varas” (New Year) in the next meet.

 

 Both Mclean and Aurelle were felicitated & were awarded with the certificate of appreciation.

 

The event progressed well with the variety of entertainment. Beautiful dances kept  the floor busy. Ricky, Melisa, Ida, Mclean, Adelle and Ishney were simply amazing. Soulful singing by all singers and children went high on the agenda.  Adelle Pinto was at her best in a costume that suited well to maximize the “Hawa Hawai” effect. A surprise talk by Michel Moras came as a jerk to every funny bone.

 

Wilfy presented each family with a Konkani Carols Album “Jezu Balkak Kheloyam” which he had directed and sang. Sumptuous buffet was on the platter. The program concluded with the vote of thanks by Anil Pinto. The next meeting was decided to have on 31st of Jan 2014. Anil recalled that this is an open invitation to all who want to be a part of  Konkan Pearls. The gathering made all the members to feel the united family bond yet again. All members extended their maximum cooperation and support for the success of Konkan Pearls.
