M’lore: Veterinary Department confronts outbreak of Foot & Mouth Disease among livestock

Mangalore, Dec 19, 2013 : At the joint auspices of animal husbandry and veterinary services department, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, Karnataka state veterinarians Association ®, DKMUL and United India Insurance Company Limited, Mangalore, daylong special technical workshop on precautions on outbreak of foot and mouth disease in cattles and union government sponsored cattle insurance scheme for the year 2013 – 14 was held for all veterinarians of state-run clinics in Dakshina Kannada district was held at Hotel Deepa Conforts, here on Wednesday December 18.



Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat CEO and acting Deputy Commissioner Tulasi Maddineni inaugurated the programme.

 



Tulasi urged the veterinarians to reach the finer aspects of ongoing workshop to the end users that are dairy farmers. 



DKMUL chairman K Raviraj Hegde in his chief guest’s address expressed happiness over the veterinarians who have successfully cleared the apprehension over the recent outbreak of foot and mouth disease in livestock.



KLDA veterinary resources and project additional director Dr K Shivakumar advised to enroll more number of cattle for insurance cover. 



United India Insurance Company Limited senior divisional manager A K Sinha suggested the animal husbandry department to co-ordinate with insurance company to successfully implement the insurance scheme.



City veterinary clinic assistant director Dr M N Rajanna proposed vote of thanks.



Bangalore – Animal Science and Botany Institute director Dr M D Venkatesh was the resource person explained in detail on the measures to treat foot and mouth disease in livestock. 

 

The veterinarians of state-run veterinary clinics across Dakshina Kannada district participated in the workshop.



Dr K V Halagappa, deputy director of animal husbandry department, Mangalore welcomed the gathering.  City veterinary clinic assistant director Dr M N Rajanna proposed vote of thanks.
