Udupi: Students of St. Lawrence PU and Degree College Moodubelle take out AIDS Awareness Rally

Udupi, 15 Dec 2013: Students of St. Lawrence PU and Degree College joined in a large number in the AIDS Awareness Rally organized by the NSS volunteers on Saturday, 14 December 2013 at 9.45 am. Rajendra Shetty-President of Belle Grama Panchayat flagged off the rally from the quadrangle of St. Lawrence PU College.
With banners and placards meant to raise awareness among the people, students went in procession from St. Lawrence PU College to the township and marched through the main road up to the Post Office and back to the college passing through the main gate of the church. Along with the students, Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Mrs. Sarita D’Souza-Principal of St. Lawrence Degree College, Edward Larsen D’Souza-NSS Programme Officer of St. Lawrence PU College, Mrs. Kusuma Makwan-NSS Programme Officer of St. Lawrence Degree College and staff members of both colleges went in procession along with the students.
After returning from the procession, students and staff members assembled in the PU College Hall where Dr. Krishna Prasad-Medical Officer from the Primary Health Center, Pernankila explained the causes, nature and consequences of HIV and AIDS with the help of Power Point presentation.
Fr. Paul Sequeira and Mrs. Sarita D’Souza also spoke on this occasion. Prizes to the winners of the competition held on the AIDS Awareness Day were distributed. Edward Larsen D’Souza welcomed the gathering and Navin Correa compeered the programme.

Any use of this rally in Belle or just show off? May be college principal what s to show to the innocent public of belle that he is doing some big achievement belle by conducting such rallies with his regular round cap? I don t think this is of any use especially place like Moodubelle where people are more educated and well cultured. This is nothing but waste of time some may not like this but this is the fact. |
