Udupi: Various organizations join together in Blood Donation Drive at Moodubelle

Udupi, 17 Nov 2013: Various organizations and associations from Moodubelle and Kattingeri  villages joined together under the banner of ICYM to organize the Blood Donation Drive on Sunday, 17 November 2013 at St. Lawrence PU College Hall Moodubelle from 9 am to 1 pm.

 

The Blood Donation Drive was inaugurated at 9 am. Rajendra Shetty-Presdient of the Belle Grama Panchayat presided over the programme. Dr. Anant Nayak-Surgeon Officer of the Udupi District Hospital was the chief guest. Rev. Fr. Paul Sequeira-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Alphonse K. Alva-Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council and office bearers of various organizations and associations were on the dais.

 

 

Following the welcome address  by Alwyn Lobo-President of the ICYM, the Blood Donation Drive was formally inaugurated by Dr. Anant Nayak and other dignitaries by  lighting the lamp. Speaking at this occasion, Dr. Anant Nayak said that blood donation is one of the best donations one can do in his or her life. Scientists can produce artificially many things except human blood.

 

Blood donation is beneficial for both the receiver and donor. He further  said that any person above the age of 18 and having no major ailments can donate the blood.

 

Fr. Paul Sequeira appreciated the blood donation drive that was being conducted by a number of organizations and associations  and wished them well.   Rajendra Shetty in his presidential message highlighted the need to donate blood and said that blood donation is a noble deed that a person can do in his life.

 

Maxim D’Sa compeered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
