Udupi : Guinness Record attempt by 1 lac students for simultaneous Yoga performance
Udupi, 14 Nov 2013: The District Administration is aiming to enter into Guinness book of world by organising Yoga training at 16 centers simultaneously on December 11. In this regard a special meet was organized recently. The meeting was chaired by Vinay Kumar Sorake, district in charge and Urban Development minister.
Sorake directed the officials to convene a preliminary meeting to discuss about the necessary arrangements to be made. He also advised them to increase the number of centres training and also to make necessary transportation and basic infrastructure arrangements depending on the number of people.
“All the trainers should be called and a discussion should be held about the vital aspects. In case of any problems solutions should be provided so that no problem will be faced on the day of the event,”Sorake said.
“Already schools are paying a lot of importance to Yogas. Yoga will be contributory factor in shaping up a strong nation. Schools in selected Districts including undivided Dakshina Kannada District will organise Surya Namaskar simultaneously so that the event can be entered into Guinness book of world record. As many as 1 lac students will participate,”said I.Shashikanth Jaim, director, Yoga.

Brahmavar Zone : S.M.S Pre-University College, Viveka Pre-Universotiy College, Kota, Government Pre-University College College, Kokkarne, Government Pre-University College, Brahmavar. Kundapur Zone : Government Pre-University College, Koteshwar, Government Pre-University College, Bidkal Katte, Sri Venkataramana English Medium School, Kundapur. Byndoor Zone : Government Pre-University College, Navunda, Government Pre-University College, Byndoor, Government Pre-University College, Vandse. Karkala Zone : Government Model Higher Primary Schoo, Hebri, Swaraj Maidan, Karkala and Nitte High School Grounds, Karkala,”said Ashok Kamath, DDPI.
Upendra Nayak, president, Zilla Panchayat, Gowri Poojarthi, president, Taluk Panchayat, Dr.M.T.Reju, deputy commissioner, Udupi District, Pranesh Rao, additional deputy commissioner, deputy secretary, Zilla Panchayat and B.Seetharam Tolpadithaya, secretary, Shantivana Trust were present among others.
