Hassan: Basic Legal Knowledge essential for Everyone – Judge J S Somashekar

Hassan, 10 Nov 2013: The legal knowledge is essential for everyone to protect themselves from injustices in the society, said district chief session’s judge and Legal Services Authority chairman J S Somashekar.
The judge Somashekar was speaking after inaugurating legal awareness and assistance programme that was organized as part of National Legal Services Day celebration which was held in joint aegis of district Legal Services Authority, Bar Association and Sujala Education Trust at Sujala College auditorium here on Saturday November 9.
Speaking on the occasion, judge Somashekar said legal services are bestowed on countrymen regardless of caste, creed and faith, rich and poor by national constitution. The basic legal knowledge is essential for everyone to protect the interests of countrymen, said judge Somashekar.
The legal marriageable age for men is 21 years and for woman is 18 years, if any wedding takes place in violation of legal age, they are punishable under the law, said judge Somashekar. He also urged the students to lay emphasis on their studies and put concerted efforts to carve out better future that will bring name to their parents and teachers, urged judge Somashekar.
Sujala Education Trust chairman D Subbe Gowda presided the function.
Second additional district and session’s judge R D Huddar, chief senior civil judge and CJM and district Legal Services Authority member and secretary Mustafa Hussein, Bar Association chairman Devaraje Gowda were chief guests of the occasion.
