M’lore: Over 600 High School Students Partake in City North Zone Sports Meet

Mangalore, 7 Nov 2013: At the joint aegis of Dakshina Kannad zilla panchayat public instructions department, office of the Mangalore north education zone and Government High School (Urdu), Bunder, here, Mangalore north zone sports meet for high school students, both boys and girls was held at Mangala Stadium, here on Wednesday November 6.
Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo inaugurated and presided the function here on Wednesday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Lobo said that of late there has been decline in interest of outdoor activities by the children. The sports and games are essential for health of mind, body and spirit. It will strengthen the faculties to face the challenges ahead in life. He also urged the students to actively partake in the sports with sportsmanship and not worry of results, urged MLA Lobo.
Bunder ward corporator Rameeza Nasser hoisted the sports flag on the occasion.
Block Education Officer (BEO) Lokesh, Mangalore taluk physical teachers Association president Dayanand Mada were the chief guests.
Government High School (Urdu), Bunder governing council chairman Mohammed B, head teacher Asha Nayak, Government Higher Primary School (Urdu) head teacher Khalida Banu were present at the dais.
The corporator Rameeza Nasser presided the valedictory function here on Wednesday evening.
The block co-ordinating officer Pitambar was the chief guest of the occasion.
Both the dignitaries distributed the prizes to the winners.
Over 600 students partaken in the sports meet.
Government High School (Urdu), Bunder head teacher Asha Nayak compered the programme. The teacher Mamata G Ithal welcomed the gathering. The teacher Vinuta K proposed vote of thanks.
