Abu Dhabi: Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebrated at ISC with traditional gaiety and splendor

Abu Dhabi, 02 Nov 2013: In a glittering ceremony, Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha a premier association of all Kannadigas residing in U.A.E. celebrated the "Karnataka Rajyotsava" with traditional gaiety and splendor. The grand celebration was held at India Social & Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi on Friday 1st November presided by Chief Guest HE M K Lokesh, Ambassador of India to UAE amidst presence of Padmashree Dr. B.R.Shetty (Patron of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha). On the auspicious occasion a special award "Da-Ra Bendre Prashasthi" was conferred on Mr.C.R.Shetty (Founder & Former President of Dubai Karnataka Sangha) for his contribution towards Kannada Nadu and Nudi during the Rajyotsava celebration.
The prominent dignitaries were accorded a grand welcome by the audience. Mr. Sarvotham Shetty, President of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha welcomed the chief guest Mr. M.K. Lokesh, (Mrs.) & Dr. B.R. Shetty, Mr. C.R. Shetty, Sudheer Kumar Shetty (COO Global UAE Exchange) and many other prominent dignitaries and sponsors and requested the audience to participate fully in the day long Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebrations.
Mangala Shetty, a vibrant multi-talented host introduced the dignitaries and highlighted the glory and achievement of Karnataka, its vibrant culture, traditions, great poets, writers and people excelled and who have worked hard for the success of Karnataka in many fields and her all out development.
The celebrations began with a welcome song and inauguration with lighting of the traditional lamp led HE M.K. Lokesh accompanied by all the dignitaries on the stage. The inauguration was followed by a brief farewell function to outgoing ambassador of India to U.A.E. HE M.K. Lokesh was presided by Dr. B.R. Shetty. Mr. Sarvotham Shetty gave a brief intro of Mr. M K Lokesh and highlighted his various achievements within a very short span of time and became one of the best ambassador to U.A.E. he said that our Ambassador is assigned to Switzerland & Vatican from the hottest to the coolest place and thanked him for his love to Karnataka Community especially and his dedicated service to the people of India in U.A.E. and wished him all the best in his new assignment.
Loads of entertainment programs and dances were staged during the celebrations. Some of the dances that mesmerized the audience were Kannada Group Dances and songs, by Divya Sharma & Team and a beautiful Dance Drama titled "Shila Balikas" by Rohini Ananth & Group, Dubai was wonderfully performed. Added spice to this was a hilarious Mimicry and Humerous speeches by Cine Star Mimicry Dayanand from Bangalore and a Kannada Patriot song by Ronald D’Souza and group.
The main event of the day was honouring of Da Ra Bendre Award to Mr., CR Shetty founder of Dubai Karnataka Sangha for his selfless service to Kannada, and various community services as the President and committee member of Karnataka Sangha Dubai.
Also added Attraction of the day was mesmerizing performances by Sri Mukambika Cultural Academy, Puttur (Mangalore) which was applauded by the audience followed by Dance Drama "Kavi Kanda Karnataka", Shiva Thandava Nruthya, Kannada Janapada Nruthya were all wonderfully performed.
Many kannadiga students (UAE level) who excelled academically were honoured the during the celebration, that included Students of 10th and 12th Grade who have scored 90% or above in the Board Examination of 2013, Students who have excelled in Sports activities and represented their school in India or Abroad and earned Gold/Silver/Bronze Medals and Students who have excelled in extra Curricular activities (literary, Arts & Quiz) and earned recognition from the prominent authorities in India or Abroad and also the Students who have earned HH Shaikh Hamdan Award, Dubai or Sharjah Award.
Compering throughout the day was conducted by Sarvotham Shetty, Manohar Tonse, Mangala Shetty , Rajani Bhatt & Veena Malya filled with wit and humour.
Mimicry Dayanand mentioned in his speech that in Karnataka Rajyothsava Programmes ends in 3 hrs but here in Abu Dhabi it’s like a festival that is what the celebration means.
All the artists were honored on the occasion namely, Mr Siraj Ahmed , D. Bhavani Shanker, Mookambika Cultural Academy & Mimmicri Dayanand. All the media representatives too were honoured.

Yet a another yar to pay homage to our beloved Karnataka. Wonderful organisation by Karnataka Sangha with their steadfast Icon Mr.Sarvotham Shetty. Great participaton by good many kannadigas.Nice pics by Melvrick, good contribution to pay homage to our Mother Karnataka.
