Udupi: ICYM Pangla to hold Decennial Inter-Parish Singing Competition

Udupi/Shankerpura, 22 October 2013:  Popularly known as land of Jasmine Pangala Parish dedicated to St. John The Evangelist is in leader in conducting various cultural events, educational camps and social services in the diocese.  St. John The Evangelist has blessed this parish and the faithful with abundant blessings and the people of Parish are well educated produced several religious leaders, entrepreneurs, and world leaders and the list is endless.  ICYM Pangla plays an important role in all out development of their parish and put their talents and services for the best use of the Parish and well being of the people.

 

One of the major activities among many events organized by ICYM Pangla is singing competitions and that too Inter-parish competitions organized successfully since its inception 2002.  This year ICYM Pangla holds Decennial Inter-Parish singing competition and a large number of singers are expected to participate from our new Udupi Diocese.  As per the organizers ICYM expects minimum of twenty (20) entries against 16 parishes took part in the competition and Kallaynpur parish walked away with the Champions trophy in 2012.

 

This year competition is being held on Sunday 3rd November 2013 at 10.00am and will be inaugurated by the ICYM Director.   The competition is held for ten categories as per following:

"Age Group"

Below 12 years (Boys and Girls) – Solo only
Above 12 – 18 (Boys and Girls) – Solo, Duet(Mix) and Group
Above 18 – (Boys & Girls) Solo, Duet(Mix) and Group

 

The winners of each category will be given away with trophies.  The overall winners (champions) will be awarded the Champions Trophy and Cash Prizes i.e. First, Second and Third.

 

It is an unique opportunity for all good singers of the diocese take part in this prestigious singing competition and win fabulous prizes and most importantly show-case their abundant singing talent.  The organizers are requesting for early entries and upbeat about the events and expect a good number of entries.  The competition is being judged by prominent singers/musicians from Mangalore.
