Our Lady of Lourdes church Kanajar

Kanajar, 08 September 2013: The feast of Nativity of Infant Mary (Monthi  Fest) was celebrated on 8th of September 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes church Kanajar . The celebration began at 8.45 AM with the blessing of new corn by Rev. Fr. Henry Mascarenhas from Bishops house Udupi followed by showering of flowers to infant Mary by the children in front of the Madmale Kall, behind Sauharda Bhavan. After the showering the flowers all the devotees came to the church in a procession.

 

 

During the homily, Rev. Fr. Henry Mascarenhas emphasized the values of a mother. He asked the devotees to pray at home as a family and teach the values to the children.  He also said that this day belongs to girl children and we should respect all girl children.

 

At the end during the mass, prizes were given to the winners of games conducted by ICYM Kanajar Unit that were held on Sunday the 1st of September 2013. At the end of the Mass the blessed Novem (Paddy Corn) was distributed to the devotees by Gurkars inside the church. Sugar cane was distributed to all by the volunteers.
