Udupi: Teacher’s Day Celebrated at St Lawrence Group of Edu Institutions, Moodubelle

Udupi, 6 Sep 2013: St Lawrence Group of educational institutions, Moodubelle, near here celebrated the Teacher’s Day on Wednesday September 4.
It’s for the first time 70 teachers and office staff of St Lawrence Group attended the function wearing uniform and was led to the dais by parents teachers Association president and students leaders accompanied by the college band.
Shirva – Don Bosco English Medium School head teacher Gretta Noronha, Moodubelle parish council vice president A K Alva, the heads of 5 educational institutions of St Lawrence Group, were the chief guests of the occasion.
The floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Dr Sarvapally Radhakrishnan.
St Lawrence Group of educational institutions correspondent Fr Joswey wished all the staff members on behalf of the management by offering flower and a memento as an appreciation for the hard work they are doing in the institution.
St Lawrence College principal Saritha Alva thanked the correspondent, the management, the parent teachers Association and the students for organizing the Teacher’s Day celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, Gretta Noronha highlighted the teacher’s role in the society. ‘Without a teacher means without salt to food and without light in the darkness,’ said Gretta. The society should respect the teachers, love them and support them. And called on the teachers to imbibe the great qualities of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and become great teachers.
Fr Joswey presented the Catholic Board of Education Award to the head of St Lawrence English Medium School, for bagging 100 percent results. He also presented flowers as a token of appreciation to parent teachers Association president Sujata Suvarna, programme conveners Joseph Martis, Gerald Fernandes, Rita Castelino and Shanti Alva during the programme.
The ace photographer and Bellevision reporter Anil Alva and Divine Word TV Channel videographer were also honored on the same occasion.
St Lawrence English Medium School headmaster Fr Raj, the staff and students have drawn prepared rangoli and flower decoration, which was appreciated by all.
St Lawrence Group of educational institutions correspondent Fr Joswey welcomed the gathering. St Lawrence High School students rendered the prayer hymn. St Lawrence Higher Primary School students staged the welcome dance. Shanti Alva compered the programme. Rita Castelino proposed vote of thanks.
The students staged variety cultural shows to enthrall the teachers and the general audience.
The refreshments and beverages were distributed to all.
