Moodbidri: People beat-up Rapist of Mentally-Challenged Teen in Kuppepadav Village

Moodbidri, 24 Aug, 2013 : The local residents of Kuppepadav village beaten up a person, accused of raping a mentally-challenged teenage girl who became pregnant at Kalladi – Jarigekatte, near here and handed over to the police, being reported on Friday August 23.

 

Fifty-five-year-old Sundar, a daily wager and former president of Kalladi Higher Primary School betterment Committee, a resident of Kalladi – Jarigekatte that lies on the boundary of Kuppepadav – Iruvail, was accused of raping a neighbor fifteen-year-old mentally challenged girl.  Sundar already is a father of 3 daughters.  He has exploited the girl who used to be alone in the house in the guise of offering her tobacco-snuff and she became four-month pregnant.  

 

 

The locals were suspicious of Sundar’s act, but he denied it.  When the locals including women on Friday August 23 afternoon questioned him about his involvement, he confessed the truth.  The locals at once beaten up and tied him with ropes to a nearby tree.  The police were informed.

 

Bajpe police arrived at the spot and have taken Sundar into their custody.  Sunder was accused of communal flare up during 2012 and the locals urge the law enforcement agencies to award him harsh punishment.

 

After a shot while, Bajpe police have taken away Sundar, his brother Sadashiv arrived at the location in an auto rickshaw and threatened the women and youth who gathered on the spot.  The chaos prevailed when the youth tried to assault Sadashiv.

 

The girl was handed over to the care of Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
