Udupi: Twenty-One Teenage Boys Rehabilitated at Spoorthidhama Rehabilitation Center

Udupi, 19 Aug 2013 : Twenty-one boys of less than 14 years who were found living dangerously on the street. These boys were rescued from the bus stand, Malpe port vicinity, nearby Krishna mutt, who was deprived of education.
Spoorthidhama Rural Development and Training Institute rescued the boys with the support of voluntary, social welfare organizations across the district and government department and handed over to the care of district child welfare Committee.
The social welfare organizations joined in the efforts of Spoorthidhama with the key objective of making the district free from child laborers and child beggars.
This operation was carried out in association of Rotary Club – Tekkatte, Udupi district taxi men’s Association, Milagres College BSW department, Kallianpur, Manipal University BSW department, Dr A V Baliga College of Social Science and Rural Development, Harady, Rukmini Shetty Memorial National government First Grade College BSW department, Barkoor, St Mary’s College BSW department, Shirva, Tenkanidiyoor Government First Grade College, and collaboration of Udupi district administration, district police department, district child protectin unit, district social welfare department, district women and child welfare department, district Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan district labor department.
