Moodubelle: Catholic Sabha felicitates Mrs. Jacintha Aranha and Gilbert D’Souza

Moodubelle, 2 August 2010:  The Catholic Sabha organised a multipurpose programme on Sunday, 1 August 2010 at 3 pm in the Parish Hall to felicitate Mrs. Jacintha Aranha, the newly elected President and Mr. Gilbert D’Souza, the member of the Belle Grama Panchayat respectively, to give Pratibha Puraskar to the highest scorers in the PUC and SSLC examinations held in 2010 and to give guidance to the students of eigth and ninth standard regarding the competitive examinations in order to avail the various government scholarships.Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Director of the Catholic Sabha pressdied over the programme.

Following the introduction of the guests of honour by Charles Quadros, Fr. Joswey Fernandes felicitated Mrs. Jacintha Aranha and Mr. Gilbert D’Souza by presenting them shawl, bouquet of flowers and fruit plate. Mrs. Jacintha Aranha and Fr. Joswey Fernandes gave away the Pratibha Puraskar to the top scoeres of the St. Lawrence Composite PU College in the examinations held in March 2010. These students are: Jovita Shiny D’Souza and Melissa Fiona Rebello in SSLC; Pradeep Mathew Lobo and Prima Binisha Martis in Second PUC Commerce; Jovita Lobo in Second PUC Science and Ashwin Cornelio in Second PUC Arts.

The programme was compeered by Hilda D’Souza, Monthu Castelino-president of the catholic Sabha welcomed the guests and Mrs. Wilma Rodrigues-secretary proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by Henry Fernandes-Vice President of the Parish Council. 

Following the programme, Fr. Paul Sequeira conducted the workshop for the students of the eigth and ninth standards and their parents as to how they should prepare for the competitive examinations and secure high marks in order to become eligible to receive various government scholarships. Vignesh Acharya, who had scored highest marks in Second PUC (93.5 per cent) and presently doing engineering in electronics at the Nitte Engineering College and Sumitha Lobo who is presently doing BSc talking to the young students narrated their own experience and gave useful tips to them as to how to prepare and appear for the examinations.
