Kundapur: 44 Couples of Different Communities Wedded during Mass Wedding Programme at Gangol

Kundapur, 29 Apr 2013: Kundapur, 29 Apr 2013: Forum of Inter-religious Co-existence and Harmony Gangolli organized a inter-religious conference and multi-religious mass wedding programme at S V Pre-University College ground, Gangolli, near here on Sunday April 28.
Forty-four couples out of which 40 coupes of the Hindu community, 2 each couples of the Christian and Muslim community united in wed-lock at the mass wedding ceremony.
After the nuptials a felicitation ceremony and inter–religious conference was held.
The renowned astrologer Vidwan Kabyadi Jayaram Acharya inaugurated the conference by lighting the traditional lamp.
Speaking on the occasion Kabyadi Jayaram Acharya said, ‘We need to live in unity and brotherhood. It is necessary to sow the seeds of tolerence in our children when they are small. When the children grow with tolerance there will be harmony and peace will prevail in the society.’ He further advised the newly wedded couples to understand their partners and lead a happy married life. The husbands should be loving and kind to their wives and wives should respect their husbands.
Belgaum Bishop Dr Peter Machado said, ‘In this modern world, it is necessary to live with unity by forgetting the caste, creed and discrimination. We need to forget the bitter experiences and live in friendship and harmony.’
Thokkottu Jumma mosque Khatib Mohammed Kunhi said, ‘Communalism has spread everywhere, in Politics, Cultural life and in the Educational sphere like cancer". The root cause of communalism is lack of belief in our own religion. Every religion teaches us to live in unity and brotherhood but we fail to understand the true meaning of religion. Mosque, temple and church have unified people and have contributed to the society,’ said Khatib Mohammed Kunhi.
M M Ibrahim, proprietor of Kwality Foods, Goa handed over the ambulance key to 24x7 helpline Gangolli on the occasion.
Dubai based Fortune Group of Hotel chairman Praveen Shetty presided over the function.
