Mangalore: MLA U T Khader Flays State Govt for Power Crisis in DK District

Mangalore, 21 Mar 2013: MLA U T Khader has flayed the state government for power crisis in Karnataka.

 

Speaking to media persons at District Congress Committee (DCC) office here on Wednesday March 20 afternoon, MLA U T Khader said that the state government with its lack of farsightedness has failed to maintain the existing power generating units.  Though the demand for electricity is high in the Dakshina Kannada (DK) district, the district is being supplied with only 100 to 110 megawatts electricity.

 

Only one unit of UPCL is function, owing to the shortage of coal.  The state government should have initiated measures to supply coal to the power generating units.  The state government has failed in tackling the situation, alleged MLA Khader.

 

 

With regard to inconvenience met by the passport applicants while police verification, MLA Khader said the police in DK district demand the witness who has signed in the applications to appear for verification.  Actually in reality, there is no need for the witness to appear for the verification of the applicant, said MLA Khader.

 

There are instances, the witness who had signed the passport applications may not be in town when the police call for verification.  The police in the district are also demanding photograph of the applicant taken in front of his house.  In case if the police want photograph they can click during inquiry.  The passport in-charge officer in Mangalore had clarified which met him on Tuesday March 19 that there was no such rule that the witness had to be present during verification, said MLA Khader.
