Oscar Fernandes felicitated on completing 30 years as MP

Udupi, 03 July 2010: In a colourful programme held on Friday, 2nd July 2010 at 10 am at Udupi, the newly elected Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka Vidhan Sabha, Mr. Oscar Fernandes was honoured for completing 30 years as the member of the Parliament. Mr. Oscar Fernandes had started his career as a Congressman in 1959 as a Youth Congress worker. He started his electoral foray into politics when he was elected as the corporator of Udupi Municipality in 1972 and was elected for the first time as the member of the Lok Sabha in 1980.
The programme was attended by a large number of Congress workers who were elected as grama panchayat members in different pachayats of the udupi District. They were also felicitated on this occasion. Former Union Minister, Janardhan Poojary was present for the programme.
