Moodubelle, 07 Feb 2013: The foundation stone to the Mid-day meal kitchen was blessed and laid by Rev. Fr. Joswey Fernandes, Correspondent of St. Lawrence Educational Institutions on 31 January 2013. The staff members and students were present for the short function.
Fr. Paul Sequeira, Principal of St. Lawrence Composite PU College welcomed and narrated the purpose of the project. He said that it is a need based project. The Mid-day meal project was started by the Lions Club of Moodubelle in 2004. The facility has become quite old now as the cement sheets have become old leaking during the rainy season. Even the space has been quite inadequate to accommodate the growing number of students who benefit from the Mid-day meal facility.
The project was to start last year. However, due to shortage of funds the project had to be delayed. As the project has become the top priority, it’s construction has started hoping support from generous donors. With their support it is hoped that the project will be completed by June 2013 before the the school starts for the next academic year.
The construction work is being undertakne by Mr. Robert Noronha from Karkala who had built the church. The engineer is Mr. Srinivas Nayak who did the planning of the project. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs.15 lakhs.
Fr. Paul Sequeira has made an appeal to generous donors and well-wishers to come forward and contribute to the completion of the project.

No problem at all Arun Prakash. Belle parishioners are generous and god fearing.
Nelson well wisher very well said. these leaders are just planning to frame their names on the marble and nothing else. they are finding the ways to misuse publics hard earnings as there is no accountability. Public need to ask for the detailed report along with its long term viability and these leaders should be accountable for any wrong deeds. People need to wake up immediately to avoid another misuse of funds in unplanned projects.
Such an important project could have been implemented long back. In Belle there is no shortage of donors or funds. Shortage is of leadership and vision. If there are sincere efforts to unite and encourage old students in a systematic manner, such small projects can be executed with ease. But sadly the leaders do not involve the old students and do not execute projects in professional manner. Instead of looking into 5 - 10 years future, we need to look beyond 20 - 30 years. Also asking for help at the last moment and without concerted efforts, will not get the desired results. Try to involve the old students and community, then see the magic. Schools in our neighborhood do well in terms of major projects and professionalism but sadly we are lagging behind everywhere. Can the leaders wake up now ???
