Udupi: Sixth Day of the Ganesh Chaturthi - 2012

Udupi, 24 Sept 2012: SRI GANESH FESTIVAL was on the peak level on the concluding day in and around udupi city. Today entire city is surrounded by Lord Ganesh devotees everywhere irrespective of caste, creed, position etc.

 

In Udupi city very Famous and Reputed Dynasty family Dr. VSR PAI’s House too the worship of Idol held with all devotional and traditional manner. Famous personalities of Manipal Pai’s and Icon personalities of South Canara visited their house and participated in the worship.

 

 

Immersion of the idol of Shri Ganesha programme started-up at 17:00 Hours (IST) in the Udupi Sri Laxmi Venkatesh Temple. Grand procession held which routed from temple and traveled throughout the Udupi city. Large number of devotees witnessed the event. The cultural and traditional wear-out was really appreciable fact.

 

The famous and Traditional HULI VESHA (called in GSB community as VAGA VESHU) was the main attraction. Small kids were in large numbers in the HULI VESHA troups. Throughout the procession there was pin drop silence which was observed as a mark of respect given by the common man to the procession authorities.

 

To illustrate the flower decoration made to the chariot in which the procession routed throughout the city, there were NO WORDS to say!!!

 

After the procession routed to entire city, it re-entered the temple premises and later the six days worshiped Ganesh Idol  was immersed in the auspicious "PADMA SAROVAR" lake of the temple.

 

One devotee of the temple Mrs. Laxmidevi M Shenoy of Udupi said, "This time due to creative out look presented by the Temple authorities and that too by the community youth members in Ganesh Festival Days and the systematic procedure followed by the entire responsible team the function was GRAND SUCCESS and number of visitors of devotees registered all times high".

 

There is a tradition in the GOWDA SARASWATH BRAHMIN (GSB) community that on this day kids below the age of five (5) , irrespective of sex, head portion of the kids is decorated  with Udupi Mallige flowers, which in the community commonly known as "SONH-PHOL MALCHE". Kids look great in this fashion.
