Udupi: Second Day of the Ganesh Chaturthi - 2012

Udupi, 21 Sept 2012: Ganesh Chowthi  Day in the Morning Ganesh Idol was brought from the School of personnel who prepares it.  Elder House elder personnel visits to his place, he draws the eye point (Dristhty) to the idol and make a pray to Supreme Lord and handover the idol to the member in charge.

 

Then Idol made from special sacred mud bought to respective house entrance, whereby in the married women welcome them and places the idol in reserved place. God Ganesh favourite food of LADDU placed in the Ganesh Idol’s hand by the youngest member of the house.

 

 

 

After that idol will be decorated with all natural fruits, flowers. The male member of the family with the family priest starts up the afternoon poojanams to the idol. Female members do the VAYANA POOJA and GOURI-MAHADEVA pooja. All the members of the house participate in the activity irrespective of his job, position etc.

 

After the Poojanams, Prasadams will be served to all in the form of LUNCH. In the evening all the neighbours, relatives visits each other house to see and get the blessings of GOD GANESH. There is a saying that

 

“on Ganesh Chaturthi Day one must see at least Twenty One (21) Idol then it’s very auspicious for every one”.

 

In the night all the family members including age old, kid etc. do the BHAJANAMS and night poojanams will be performed to both GODs of  GOURI-MADHADEV and GANESH. After that GOURI-MADHADEV Idols will be kept outside the House near the TULASI KATTE.

 

Thereafter that, Ganesh Idol will taken near the Water well and VISARJANA POOJANAMS are being performed with pouring cow’s milk and coconut to the Idol. After that all the family members will pray and say

 

“GANPATI BAPPA MORYA PUDHCHYA VARSHI LAVKAR YA”

 

and later the idol will be put into the water well and immediately water taken from the same water well and water got sprinkled to all members head as sacred thirtha Prasadams.

 

Later same auspicious water brought inside the house and kept in the same place where Ganesh Idol was kept and worshipped for the whole day. Thereafter that prasadams in the form of DINNER will be served to all.
