Mangalore: KORWA completes one year of its existence with meaningful service

Mangalore, 17 August 2012: KORWA (Konkna Overseas Returnees Welfare Association) that was established last year completed one year of its meaningful service to the society. In order to marks this occasion it organized the annual General Body Meeting on 14th August 1012 at Don Bosco Mini Hall Mangalore.
The programme started at 5.30 pm by an opening prayer by Rev.Fr. Melwyn D’Cunna (ex-Kuwait).
President Mr. Louis Lobo welcomed all members and expressed his happiness for extending whole-hearted support of the members to KORWA. He said that KORWA was able to help many needy people within a span of one year period. This was possible just because of members best support as well as many well-wishers financial support which KORWA received so far. He requested each and every member to work in the same way and allow KORWA to conduct many more events in Mangalore and gather funds to help the poor people.
General Secretary Mrs. Jessy Pinto in her speech explained in details all the service rendered by KORWA during the past year.
On 18th December 2011, Christmas Tree function at St. Aloysius College auditorium.
On 26th February 2012, the committee visited to Moodubelle. A Invitation by Mr. Ronald Sabi D’Souza to his Hill Top Party Spot. And Invitation by Commodore Jerome Castelino to visit his home and the War Memorial he had built in his court yard in the memory of those soldiers who laid down their life during the Goa Liberation (1961) and Bangladesh Liberation (1971) wars .
On the same day, while returning back from Moodubelle, the committee visited Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre for physically and mentally challenged children at Pamboor. On the spot the committee members gathered Rs. 7200/- which we handed-over to the sister in charge of the centre and also distributed fruits and sweets.
On 1st July 2012, the KORWA members visited “Samvedhana” HIV Centre at Pumpwell , Mangalore and spent some time with children by singing and games. Thereafter gave Sunday special lunch and sweets to all children and staff. Children whose birthday was in the said month received cash prizes.
On the Occasion of Independence Day Celebration, the children of St, Joseph Kannada Medium School Nanthoor received school bags, lunch plates and cups from KORWA.
Mrs. Jessy Pinto thanked all the well-wishers of KORWA and specially Dr. Eugune D’Souza, Principal of St. Lawrence College, Moodubelle. Commodore Mr. Jerome Castelino, Dean of St. Lawrence College and Mr. Ronald Saby D’Souza, Dubai for their excellent support towards KORWA from the beginning.
Mr. Patrick Pinto, read-out the financial report and Mr. David Dsouza conducted the raffle draw. The lucky member of the day, Mr. John Saldanha (ex Saudi) got the prize donated by the President Mr. Louis Lobo.
Mr. Melvyn D’Cunna expressed his views and appreciated all the wonderful works KORWA is doing in Mangalore. He asked us to continue the good work towards poor people and receive the blessings from Almighty. He also said his support will always be there.
There was 15 minutes time for open discussions and few members expressed their views which was appreciated by all. Mr. Elias Santis gave the vote of thanks and expressed his happiness being a part of KORWA and said he is receiving lots of appreciation about KORWA .
