Mangalore, 19 June 2012: Heavy rains for two days have practically disrupted normal life of the city in and around  Mangalore. The muddy water gushing out of the drains and streams and even flowing over the roads has been the common sight for these past two days. The landslide and caving in of the hills in and around Mangalore and the debris falling on the roads below have caused quite an inconvenience to the traffic and people in general.

Commuter in general, especially those proceeding to offices and school children in particular  have been finding it quite difficult to board the crowded buses during the heavy showers. In spite of these inconveniences to people and disruption of normal life, the rains have had desired effect as the temperature has come down drastically and the grass, plants and trees have risen to life again.

Like last year, this year too the work of the road widening project on the High Way has been hindered due to the onset of the monsoon. Besides, the inner roads of the city which have not been repaired pose a great difficulty due to water logging on the roads causing traffic jams. People who use these roads for normal movement also have to face problems due to splashing of the water on their dresses as vehicles move through the water-filled ditches and craters on the roads.
