Udupi, 05 April 2012: Throughout the Udupi district the Christian community observed the Holy Thursday also known as Maundy Thursday with great devotion. This celebration is done to commemorate the Last Supper of Christ with his apostles and the special prayers were organized in the all churches of the Districts. At the Mother of Sorrows Church in Udupi the solemn Holy Thursday Mass was concelebrated by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Fredrick Mascaranas and during the mass he washed the feet of apostles as was done by Jesus Christ on this day.
The next day is Good Friday, which is a religious day observed commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary and Christians observe fasting on this day. Easter Sunday that follows is the day Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. His resurrection is celebrated on Easter Day or Easter Sunday, which is an most important celebration for Christians throughout the world.
