Who’s job it is ultimately to recognize and to felicitate the local talents? I do not know about any designated committee to do this job. Parish and institutions are doing a reasonably good job in this regard. It will be nice and wise if the critics can help bridge the gap. Ultimately it is a great job of sacrificing small amount of personal time for good of whole parish. Many are already doing this kind of selfless job voluntarily. Why not jump into the bandwagon? On the other hand, spot the talents and send a profile to Bellevision .com. I believe the web committee is willing to explore and publish! My personal opinion is, ICYM should take more interest in such activities unlike their low profile involvement during recently concluded Golden jubilee celebrations.

A critic is someone who never actually goes to the battle, yet who afterwards comes out shooting the wounded.

I am not referring to any particular incident here. But, generally there is truth, up to an certain extent in what Lancy has written. We Belleans never recognize our own talents, forget about supporting/honoring them. We just forget to appreciate the hard work. We lack in unity when it comes to supporting individuals, the truth we can t deny.

Dear Mr. Lancy, if you are from Belle (as you mentioned) and if you knew of somebody deserved to be honored, you had every opportunity to bring it to the attention of the organizers concerned and surely they would have considered it. In a community we can do things successfully with the contribution from everyone, you included. Instead of criticizing, even now you can inform the organizers before any next event, so that they can look into it.

With Ref to Lancy, Belle’s comment, it could be food for thought! Whom are we blaming here? All Belleans or a few? Upon reading the above article, failed to conclude who is honored from Belle and ignored in parish or village level? It is easy to criticize others while we fail to rationalize our own participation and dedication towards the general cause or to recognize the local talent. It is untrue that our parish and institution does not care about local talents, there could be rare misses here and there as nobody is perfect. It is unwise to scrap whole lot of Belle by a partial stroke of sentence, sounds immature…!
