Padubidri: JDS express support on fight against UPCL

Padubidri, 06 February 2012: Former Chief Minister and JDS State President H.D. Kumaraswamy have expressed complete support to the people in their fight against Udupi Power Corporation Ltd. He was speaking upon inaugurating the rally for strengthening the party in the Booth level in Bantara Bhavana in Padubidri. Permission for the UPCL project was issued during the administration of JDS and I have the complete information about it, he said.

 

 

But while giving the permission certain conditions were imposed and the company had assured that it will comply with those conditions. But it has not fulfilled those conditions, so the people are facing difficulties and I have the responsibility in this, but I am not in the administration now. The BJP government which is in administration has the responsibility to see that those conditions are fulfilled, but they are not doing it and with this the people are suffering, he said.

 

I will visit the project site soon, will meet the people and study their problems and then will plan the next course of action and I support the people who are suffering, he said. Film actress Pooja Gandhi who was in the rally, said that she joined JDS seeing the achievements of JDS and called the women to join the party.

 

Other guests present on the occasion include JDS State Minority Unit President Shakeel Navaz, Youth Leader Mahendra Kumar, Kanti Chickmagalur and Ravikumar Mysore. JDS Jilla President Deviprasad Shetty presided over the function. Jilla JDS Hon. President Gulam Mohd, Chief Secretary Luis Lobo, leaders Shalini Shetty Kenchanoor, Y.Gangadhara Suvarna, Subrahmanya, Udaya Hegde and Yogish Shetty were on the dias.
