Mangalore: District Congress Committee observes Martyr’s Day

Mangalore, 31 January 2012: On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the assassination of the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi by the fanatic forces, Martyr’s Day was observed at the District Congress office, Mangalore on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10.30 am.
The Martyr’s Day observation was attended by Ivan D’Souza, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary, Suresh Ballal, Ex-MVDA President, Moiddin Bawa, District Minority Cell President and a number of District Congress leaders and party members.
The leaders and members offered floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by placing flower petals in front of the portrait of the Mahatma and took a pledge that they will work unitedly to achieve Gandhiji’s ideals.
Speaking at this occasion, the Congress leaders made an appeal to the party members that they should work together in unity to strengthen the party in and around the district. They also said that they should serve the people and work towards their betterment and welfare. Speaking further, the leaders asked the members to uphold the great principle of Mahatma Gandhi-the principles of secularism and communal harmony.
