Karkala, 26 January 2012: As every year, the annual feast of St. Lawrence at the shrine at Attur-Karkala was not only a centre of devotion to pilgrims belonging to different communities and religions but also a melting pot of cultures and languages. While witnessing the devotion of the devotees of St. Lawrence attending the holy masses, queuing up and praying in front of the statue of miracles, burning candles of different shapes and sizes, having the water from the pond of miracles one could not but wonder the miraculous powers of St. Lawrence.
This reporter of Bellevision had visited the shrine on Wednesday evening. Being a photographer he could capture the various moments and scenes at the feast in his camera. He attended the mass at 5 pm offered by Fr. Joseph Mascarenhas of Ujire. While clicking pictures outside the shrine, he happened to see the MLA of Karkala-Gopal Bhandary. As it was getting dark, Anil could capture the vivid pictures of the church and other vintage points shining and glittering in colourful lights.
