Bethany Sisters distribute scholarships to the children

Mangalore, 13 December 2011: Bethany Social Service Society’s Karunalaya Sub nit, with the collaboration of Life Insurance Corporation of India –Group Insurance Unit, Mangalore organized the distribution of scholarships to the children of the members of Janashree Bima Yojana scheme, on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Bethany Convent Hall, Bendoor, Mangalore. The beneficiaries who numbered 184 were drawn from Std. IX and X., P.U.C. and I.T.I. students.
The students of Sr. Joseph’s High School, Kankanady invoked the blessings of God Almighty at the very outset through their prayer song. Sr. Assumpta BS, the Director of Sahodaya Bethany Social Service Centre, Bendoor, Mangalore, in her inaugural address congratulated all the beneficiaries of “Janashree Shiksha Yojana” as their parents have been smart enough to avail the opportunities of Group Insurance. She welcomed the dignitaries on the dais and all the beneficiaries and their parents.
Mr. Julian D Souza, Divisional Manager (P & G.S), Life Insurance Corporation of India, Mangalore Division who was the Chief Guest at this programme, in his address gave a clarion call to the labourers of different categories to avail the benefits of the Group Insurance scheme, so that their children who qualify themselves can get the benefit of “Janashree Shiksha Sahayoga Yojana.” He applauded the services of Bethany Social service Trust and its sub units who become the catalysts of this scheme, taking the message of this scheme to the ordinary masses and facilitated this process. He stressed the need of social service associations to partake of this drive, in order to popularize these schemes.
Sr. M. Wilberta BS, the Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Little of Bethany and the President of Bethany Social Service Trust ®, Mangalore who presided over the programme, in her presidential speech, invited all to seize the opportunities and get the benefit out of them, as the opportunities do not come in search of us. She desired that the dream of SD Raymond F.C. Mascarenhas, the Founder of Bethany Congregation towards the betterment of the marginalized, especially the women be better realized through the social service undertaken by Bethany Social Service Trust.
Mr. Vasanth Kumar, Hr. Grade Asst., Life Insurance Corporation of India, Mangalore P & G.S Unit; Sr. Assumpta B.S. Director of Sahodaya Bethany Social Service Centre, Sr. Prema B.S. the Coordinator of Sahodaya and Sr. Shubha B.S., Superior, Bethany Convent, Mangalore participated in the distribution of Scholarships to the beneficiaries.
Sr. Ducis B.S., Coordinator of Karunalaya and Katipalla Social Service Centres, facilitated the distribution of scholarships and Mrs. Gracy Pinto, Treasurer – Jananimatha SHG, Katipalla conducted the programme. With the vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Prabha D. Salian, the programme was concluded.
