Udupi: Misban is behind the suicide of Sports woman Prathvi

Udupi, 12 December 2011: The enquiry in the suicide case of the emerging sports woman Prathvi of Brahmavara two month ago, is now complete and the report will be submitted to the District court in a couple of days. The case which had generated curiosity statewide has been investigated by the enquiry Officer Kundapura ASP Ram Nivas Sepat and the report has been furnished. In the report it is said that the local youth Misban had instigated the suicide.
Prathvi who participated the national competition in Bhopal, won the medals and returned back on 2nd October morning, but committed suicide in the college hostel at noon by hanging herself. Few minutes before this she had phoned from her mobile and spoke to her Father and moments later the call had come from Misbah to her mobile, this has been found out from the list of phone calls from her mobile and the mobile of Misban.
Also the diary of Prathvi was taken into possession by the police and from this she and Misban knowing each other was found out. In the last 2 months she had quarreled with him. From the diary it is known that he had tried to misuse her. With this in the background, the call he made has instigated to her death, said SP Dr. Ravikumar.
Prathvi had clearly written in the diary that Misban is harassing her and that she has been psychologically suffering from this. Police had arrested Misban on the day of the suicide and later he was released on bail.
Prathvi is the daughter of Shekara Poojary of Ampara, Kollur Grama. Observing her extraordinary talent in High Jump and Javelin throw during her High School, Brahmavara Sports Club had sponsored her. She was studying in Brahmavara S.M.S. College in PUC Commerce section. She was given free facilities in the College Hostel. She had won prizes in national level in High Jump and Javelin throw competitions.
After her suicide all the political parties had conducted various press conferences to get support from the voters of Billava community. Also the College, Physical Teacher, Coach, Warden were accused and also the Police were pressurized. But after a week from the suicide everyone forgot about it. But the Police have quietly completed their investigation and have prepared the report. Now what will happen in the court, will have to be waited and seen.
