Dubai, 13 November 2011: The 2011 Dubai International Motor Show, the largest so far in the show’s 22-year history, was officially opened by deputy ruler of Dubai Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Over 150 of the world’s top motor manufactures are showcasing a record number of global and regional launches at the show, along with some of the most exciting and innovative concept cars in the world. This most exciting show will be on view from Nov 11 to Nov 14.
The strength of this year’s show is the confirmation of the importance of this region to the automotive world. The Dubai International Motor Show is a highly effective platform for auto-makers to showcase their models to the key target audience in the region.
The opening day of the show also saw a guest appearance from Formula One driver Mark Webber from Red Bull-Renault, who visited the show ahead of the penultimate F1 race of the season. The first day coincided with positive results and new launches from some of the world’s best known car manufacturers, including Maserati, McLaren and BMW.
Adding extra flavor to the show floor are a number of concept cars, including models from Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, GMC, Maserati, Mini and Toyota.
Some of the pulse-racing models expected to make an appearance at this year’s show include the new Bugatti Grand Veryon Sport, the fastest convertible in the world, the new Porsche 911 Carrera, the Maybach 62 and the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4.
The show is expecting some 100,000 visitors over the weekend and early next week, up from 96,000 last year.
