Doha: Bellevision Qatar holds annual picnic in Marah Land

Doha, 11 November 2011: Bellevision Qatar held its annual Picnic on Friday 11th October 2011 at Marah Land Gardens, Al Wakra. The day long fun-filled event included sporting activities, games, entertainment and prizes, thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults alike. The event began at 9.00 am as everyone gathered in Bombay Chowpaty Restaurant at Bank Street and had the steam hot Idli Vada Sambar Chatni and Chai. After breakfast we drove to the Gardens in Al Wakra.

 

The garden surrounded by lush green trees, beautifully landscaped, manicured lawns, pathways, having plenty of sports facilities for children and was fresh as it was recently renovated.  We camped under a tree. The formal commencement of the picnic began with the introductory note by President Therese Dalmeida who welcomed the gathering and thanked everyone for their presence. She called upon everyone to have fun, play safe and have a great day of picnic.

 

Therese Dalmeida announced the arrival to Doha of Jenivia Mathias wife of Anil Mathias after their marriage this year. She also announced the arrival to Doha of Avinash D’Souza and Ivan D’Souza from Moodubelle. Everyone congratulated the three new comers. Therese Dalmeida mentioned that the date of today is 11.11.11 which is something unique, then she looked at her watch and was even surprised to see that it was 11 am at that time which is something special. Anil Fernandes announced that it is also the birthday of his wife Veronica Fernandes and everyone congratulated her.

 

It had rained a little on the previous days, but on this day the weather was pleasant and was just perfect for us. Edward Castelino and Tina Castelino conducted the varieties of games after briefing the game rules. There were games for Children and adults, such as passing the ball, surprise rumble, jump across, name the film, bomb the city and so on, which was full of fun and kept everyone active. Besides this the children enjoyed the various games facilities available there.

 

 

Then it was the tug of war which was the highlight of Bellevision picnic. Two mixed teams of men and women were formed each lead by Sunil and Dinnis. It was a tough battle as both teams flexed their muscles and pulled to their strength. First it was planned for best of 3, but as the result stood 2 – 1 and both teams who were in high spirits wanted to go for best of 5. Finally Sunil’s team won the game after a tough battle, which kept every one watching, on their toes.

 

Snacks and juices were served in between the games and no one knew how the good time has passed away in that fantastic atmosphere. The pre arranged lunch was delivered from Bombay Chowpaty Restaurant. Then it was lunch time and after Tina Castelino led the Grace, everyone enjoyed the delicious Chicken biriyani. After lunch everyone relaxed sitting on the lawn cracking some jokes and talking on general topics.

 

Finally it was time to play Bingo, which was conducted by Therese Dalmeida and Sunil D’Souza. Jaldi five, bottom line and full house were played, which was exciting. After all the fun and games, the fine day of picnic was over. Vice President Anil Mathais proposed vote of thanks. He thanked everyone for actively participating in the picnic to make it a successful one. He thanked Bombay Chowpaty Restaurant for arranging the delicious food. He also thanked the sponsors and everyone who worked hard in making this picnic a successful one.

 

Many thanks to President Therese Dalmeida who always has been the inspiration to the whole unit and like every event, in this event also she guided the team of Anil Mathias and Dennis D’Souza and all the three of them worked hard in planning and organizing to make it a wonderful and memorable occasion. The entire day was enjoyed by everyone and it was just another fantastic day which will be remembered always.
