Shirva: Grand Kesarugadde Sports competitions conducted

Shirva, 07 November 2011: Our elders adored the soil in their culture and tradition and have grown doing the manual field work. Our background has progressed from the varieties of folklores. These Kesarugadde sports activities will keep the new generation in touch with the village culture and the practices of olden days, said Udupi Jilla Panchayath President Katapadi Shankara Poojary.
He was speaking as the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony of Kesarugadde Sports Competitions held in Shirva Nyarma Hosamane Bakimaru Field, conducted by Shirva Lions Club on Sunday. Speaking further Shankara Poojary wished that, in the coming days hope that the District Administration conduct the district level sports meet in coordination with other associations in this place.
Lions District Sports division President Karkala Chandrahasa Suvarna spoke on the occasion and briefed on the agricultural practices in olden days, farmer’s life style, entertainment and the traditions. The program was inaugurated by Lions District First Deputy Governor Dr. Madhusoodana Hegde. The program was presided over by Lions President Ronald Menezes. Convener Melvin Aranha welcomed. Norbert Machado compeered the program. Ramanand Shettygar proposed vote of thanks.
Other guests and dignitaries present on the dias were; Udupi Taluk Panchayath President Devadas Hebbar, Shirva Grama Panchayath President Vanitha Kamalaksha Shenoy, Lions District Office Bearers Shridhara Shenava, Suresh Prabhu, Mundkur Sathyashankar Shetty, Suhas Hegde Belman, Lawrence D’Souza, Prince Point David D’Souza and V. Subbayya Hegde.
