Lions Club of Shirva-Manchakal to organise ‘Kesaru Gadddhe Sports’ on November 6

Shirva, 03 November 2011: The Lions Club of Shirva-Manchakal will organise the first ever ambitious ‘Kesaru Gaddhe Kreeda Spardhe’ on Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 9.30 am onwards at Shirva Nyarma Hosamane Bakimar paddy field. This information was given by Ln. Ronald Menezes, President of the Lions Club of Shirva-Manchakal during the Press Meeting held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 9 am at the residence of Ln. V. Subbayya Hegde in front of the Bakimar field which is being prepared for the grand event.

 

Speaking to the press, Ln. Ronald Menezes said that in order to promote the rural sports and culture of the villages, the Lions Club of Shirva-Manchakal will be organising the mega event for the first time. The programme on Sunday, November 6, 2011 will begin at 9 am with a grand procession from the Shirva bus stand to the venue of the rural sports. The sports meet will be inaugurated by Ln. Dr. Madhusudhan Hegde, First Deputy Governor of  District 324D4. Other prominent guests will be L. Suresh Prabhu, District PRO, Katapadi Shankar Poojary-President of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat,  ln. Devdas Hebbar-President of the udupi Taluk Panchayat, Mrs. vanitha shenoy-President of the Shirva Grama panchayat, Ln. Shridhar Shenva-District Coordinator,  Ln. V. Subbayya Hegde-Nyrma Hosamane, Ln. Suhas Hegde-Region Chairpaerson, Ln. Chandrahas Suvarna-DC Agriculture and Rural Development and david D’Souza-Prince Point, Shirva.

 

 

The sports meet will include individual as well as team events. The individual events include: 50 metres run, 50 metres backward run, Bombing the city and other fun games. The team games include: Tug of war for men and women, Volley Ball for men and Throw Ball for women. The winners will be awarded with cash prize and memento. It is expected that around 2,500 people from Shirva and neighbouring villages will witness these rural sports. Breakfast and lunch will be served to all the participants and spectators.

 

Following the end of these games and sports, valedictory function will be held in the evening during which prizes to the winners will be distributed. The chief guest of the valedictory function will be Ln. H.N. Shivkumar-Second Deputy Governor of  District 324D4. The guest of honour will be  Ln. Lawrence D’Souza-District Coordinator.
