Udupi: Selection camp of National NCC Navy camp in Udyavara

Udupi, 01 October 2011: The selection and preparation camp is being conducted in Forest Gate at Udyavara River from 21st September until 01st October 2011, for the All India National level Nava Sainik N.C.C. Navy camp which will be held in November at Vishaka Pattana. In the camp the N.C.C. Cadets from Karnataka and Goa are participating. Among them from Bangalore, Mysore, Udupi, Mangalore, Karwar and Goa total 164 Cadets are participating in the selection trial. There are 102 men and 62 women Cadets.
Between the teams the competitions are being conducted in sailing, firing, boat pulling, seamen ship, drill and boat model preparation. The selections will be done in 2 stages and finally 20 men and 10 women from Karnataka and Goa will be selected and sent to the National level competitions.
On Thursday the boat pulling competitions of the Cadets were held in Udyavara river. In the men’s division Mangalore wing won the second place and in the women’s division Udupi wing won the second place. Mysore wing won the first places in both men’s and women’s divisions.
The camp is being supervised by Karnataka – Goa N.C.C. Deputy Chief Director S.S. Deshpande, Camp Commander Bijay Kumar, Security Officer N.M. Hanifa, Deputy Commander Ramayya, Mangalore Chief Officer Commander N. Ramachandra and Lieutenant Commander Narayana Poojary.
