Mumbai (RBI), Mar 27: : To connect Kukke Subramanya, Dharmasthala, Kollur temples and to facilitate pilgrims between Periyashanti-Paichar and Guruvayanakere-Bajagoli, MP Capt. Brijesh Chouta has met Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari and submitted a request.
Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja visited Gadkari in New Delhi today. Chouta said that the development of these two roads connecting the major temples on the coast including Dakshina Kannada will facilitate smooth traffic for the pilgrims.
The Periyashanti-Paicharu road connecting RH-75 and NH-275 should be developed as a spur road. Currently, pilgrims from Bangalore have to cross NH-75 via Shiradi Ghat and NH-275 from Kerala to reach Subramanya Temple. Meanwhile, the Periyashanti-Paicharu road linking RH-75 & RH-275 will be upgraded as a spur road to provide direct connectivity to Kukke-Dharmasthala for devotees and tourists. Chouta has convinced Minister Gadkari.
On the other hand, the Guruvayanakere-Bajagoli road in Belthangady, which connects NH-73 and NH-169, should be developed as a spur road. The construction of this new road will reduce the travel time of pilgrims to Dharmasthala Kshetra and Kollur Sri Mookambika Kshetra and give more impetus to the development of tourism. At the same time, this route will also help in reducing traffic congestion on the highways. In this background, the Guruvayanakere-Bajagoli bridge road construction project was also reviewed and approved. Chouta has requested Minister Gadkari at the same time.
If these two spur roads are developed, the basic infrastructure facilities of the district will also be further developed by becoming more conducive to the promotion of temple tourism in the coastal area including Dakshina Kannada. Meanwhile, developing these alternative roads can not only give a boost to the local economy but also reduce the adverse impacts on the environment. Chowta mentioned in the appeal.
Responding to this, Capt. Chouta said that Minister Gadkari, who was listening to the appeal related to two major spur roads, responded positively and directed the concerned officials to review the pros and cons of these alternative roads and take necessary action. These two solar development projects will help in improving road connectivity in our area and providing comfortable travel to devotees visiting temples. This will further strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concept of a developed India.
