Udupi: Milagres College, Kallianpur, witnessed a momentous occasion with the organization of a one-day workshop, courtesy of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), on the theme "Teacher and Society: Building Meaningful Relationships." The event, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the significance of positive relationships within an academic setting, drew participation from the college’s teaching and administrative staff.

 

The workshop featured Prof. Sakarama Somayaji as the esteemed resource person, who brought to the table his wealth of experience and expertise. Through a series of engaging and interactive sessions, Prof. Somayaji elucidated the importance of individual teachers cultivating positive relationships within their institutions. He emphasized the need for educators to establish meaningful connections with their students, colleagues, and the broader community, highlighting the transformative impact this can have on the learning environment.

 

One of the key takeaways from the workshop was the emphasis on introspection as a vital tool for personal and professional growth. Prof. Somayaji shared practical examples from his own experiences, illustrating how introspection can facilitate self-awareness, empathy, and effective communication. He also underscored the significance of inculcating life skills among students, preparing them to navigate the complexities of an ever-changing world.

Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal of Milagres College, delivered the presidential remarks. Dr. Jayaram Shettigar, Staff Secretary, introduced the resource person, Prof. Sakarama Somayaji, to the gathering. The event was attended by Mrs. Sophia Dias, Vice Principal, Mrs. Shylet Mathais, IQAC Coordinator, Mr. Ravindran Bhat, PRO, and a host of teaching and non-teaching staff members.

 

The workshop proved to be a resounding success, with participants expressing their gratitude for the enriching experience. The IQAC’s initiative in organizing this workshop demonstrated the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
