Suratkal: Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust (R) Central Unit Mangalore held its 8th anniversary at Bantara Bhawan.
Shakuntala Ramananda Bhatt, Chandrakala Balakrishna Shetty, Bharti Gangadhar, Mamata Hegde and Satyavati D Shetty lit the lamp.
The evening program was presided over by senior dance expert and critic Pratibha L Samaga. In the current era, women are also at the forefront of Yakshagana and are serving the arts. It is a good development that children are getting attracted towards Yakshagana. Mahila Kendra Samiti has worked hard to involve children in Yakshagana. He said that recognizing and honoring women artists who have moved to the background and achieved success is a commendable act.
Padmaprasad Jain, Deepak Shetty Lingamaruguttu, Vidya Rakesh, Purnima Prabhakara Rao Pejavara, Sujata Dhananjaya Shetty Hosabettu, Chaitra Shetty participated in the program in the presence of Yakshagana Bhagavata Patla Satish Shetty.
Jayalakshmi Karanth Mangalpadi and Jyoti Sunil Shetty Karkala were felicitated in the function. Kumari Chaitra H Rao, Vidushi Vaishnavi Satvik Rao and Vidushi Maitri Bhat were honored with the Yakshadhruva Puraskar. Central Women’s Unit Honorary President Aarti Alva, President Purnima Yatish Rai, Secretary Purnima Shastri, Treasurer Bharti S Rao, Convenor Nivedita N Shetty were present. Purnima Yatish Rai welcomed and proposed. Aarti Alva saluted. Saisuma Navada narrated the program.
Later, Dasavatara Yaksharupaka was performed by female artistes.
