Bantwal: Eight couples of bride and groom entered the Grahasthashram at the 17th annual free mass wedding ceremony held at the Punjalakatte Bunglow Ground indoor stadium on Sunday to mark the 41st anniversary of the Punjalakatte Swastik Friends Club under the leadership of the priest, Ven.M.Shri Krishnabhat Karkala and his team.

 

At the auspicious time of 12.04 pm, 7 pairs of bride and groom entered the Grihasthashram. In the morning, a grand procession took place from Nayanad Shri Rama Bhajana Mandir to the wedding hall.

 

Later, D.K. MP Cllr. Brajesh Chowta inaugurated the assembly program and said that bringing light to the lives of the weak and the oppressed is a true social service, and the work of Tungappa Bangera and his team is an inspiration to the next generation and an example for others. Bantwal MLA Rajesh Nayak Ulipadiguttu spoke and wished that this program would continue in the future.

Former president of the club, Prabhakar P.M. welcomed the gathering. Founder president of the club, M.Tungappa Bangera, introduced the marriage ceremony and said that so far 498 couples have been married. He appealed to the MPs to try to ensure that the central government emphasizes mass marriages. Theatre artist H.K. Nayanadu narrated the program.
