Pre-conference meeting held by the Kannadiga Artists’ Council: 16th Kalamahotsava at Billava B

Mumbai (RBI), Feb. 26: The 16th Kalamahotsava of the Kannadigas, the parent organization of Kannadigas artists, which is held on a grand scale every year, has been decided to be celebrated on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Billava Bhavan, Santacruz. To exchange ideas on this occasion, a preliminary meeting of the executive committee was held recently at the Billava Bhavan conference hall under the chairmanship of the president of the council, Dr. Surendrakumar Hegde, and the Kalamahotsava was discussed in the meeting.

 

The President welcomed and inaugurated the meeting. Honorary Secretary Chandrashekar Bhat presented the report of the previous meeting and Honorary Treasurer P.B. Chandrahas informed the meeting about the proceedings.

 

The Chairman then continued the meeting and informed the meeting that a committee has already been formed to select the candidate for the Kalashri Award to be given in memory of Dr. R.K. Shetty’s mother on the Kalashri Festival. The committee is busy in selecting the candidate and the revised "Information Book" manual will also be released on the Kalashri Festival.

Like every year, it was decided to present a variety of performances in various art forms such as Yakshagana, drama, dance, group dance, music, etc. This time too, it was decided to present Yakshagana under the leadership of Mumbai’s renowned Yakshagana artist and writer Damodar Shetty Iruvailu, drama under the guidance of renowned stage director and writer Narayana Shettinandalike by the team of young stage talent Chinmaymohansalyan, musical Rasamanjari under the direction of the city’s renowned music director Padmanabha Sasihitlu, dance, group dance and other performing arts by the teams of Vidushi Amitajathan, Ankita Nayak, Shreyas Hegde under the leadership of stage actress Chandravathi Devadiga.

 

Dr. Surendrakumar Hegde (President), Kamalaksha G. Saraf and CA Srinivas P. Safalya (Vice Presidents), Chandrashekar Bhat (Secretary), P.B. Chandrahas (Secretary), Chandravathi Devadiga (Joint Secretary), Naveen Shetty Innabalike (Joint Treasurer), the Executive Committee and all members have requested all the artists, members, relatives, organizers and art lovers of various art forms in Mumbai to participate in the program and make the Kalamahotsava a success.
