Mumbai, 16 FeB: : Koti-Chennaya means a symbol of self-respect and bravery. They were twin heroes who lived complementary lives of equality. Victorious in all wars, the Koti-Chennyas are today worshiped in more than three hundred Temples across the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Kerala. All the participants in this sports event conducted under his patronage are self-respecting Billawas. Therefore, former Minister of Karnataka Government, Udupi Lok Sabha Member Kota Shrinivas Poojari called that along with participating in such sports with respect, let us live as Brahmashri Narayan Guru as well.

 

Kota Poojari inaugurated the 2025 annual ’Koti-Chennaya Sports’ organized by the youth Welfare Sub-committee of Billawar Association Mumbai at University Ground, Marine Lines, Mumbai here on Sunday.

 

Billawar Association president Harish G. Amin presided over the inauguration ceremony with former Karnataka Minister M.P Renukacharya as chief guest, Guest of honor are Maharashtra MLA Shivajirao S. Patil, Pune Bunts Sangha president Santhosh Shetty Kurkilabettu, Maharashtra Inspector General of Police (Establishment) K.M.M Prasanna, Rashtriya Billawa Mahamandal Mulki President Dr. Rajasekhar R. Kotian, Billawa Association Honorary President L.V Amin, Billawa Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman N.T Poojary, Director Gangadhar Amin Karnire, Political Leader Mahesh R. Karkera, Businessmen Deepak Kumar Yemal, Sudhakara Poojary, Rajesh Poojary, Sharada Suru Karkera, Kannada Sangh Santacruz President Sujatha R. Shetty graced the stage. The guests spoke on occasion and greeted each other.

 

Santhosh Shetty said that it is a great honor for the Pune Bunts Sangha for inviting, which is advancing with social thought. Billawas, Buntas, Mogaveeras and other communities have lived as a unity in Tulunada. He said that we are all children of mother India and should participate in such sporting events to live the life of brotherhood and harmony.

Born in Karnataka and living in Mumbai and Pune, it is commendable that Shivaji Maharaj’s state of Hindutva is leading a self-respecting society even in the M.P Renukacharya said that such a sports festival is necessary for mental and physical fitness. And the champions of the last sports festival Vaishnavi Poojary, Akshaya Amin, Dhruti Kukian, Brahmad Poojari surrounded the stadium and lit the sports torch brought to the stage.

 

K.M Prasanna said that sports activities are complementary to maintain the health of the society. He said that this is the basis for community cohesion and wished the sports festival by flying a colorful yellow balloon carrying the name plate of the sports festival.

 

Harish G. Amin said in the presidential speech that it is very gratifying to see a large number of Billawas participating in this sports event. This sports event named after Koti Chennaya should be an ideal in which we all advance as Billawa family as children of one mother. This level of development of the Billawa community is due to the hard work of our forefathers and elders. Let us unite all their ideals and strengthen the community. With the blessing of our elders in upcoming days let’s form Billawa Vidyalaya in Brihanmumbai with the best wishes of all.

 

Koti-Chennaya, Kantabare-Budabare, Aarti was performed to Lord Brahmashri Narayana and at the beginning the sports festival was symbolically launched and Shri Guru Narayana Yakshagana Mandali gave the inaugural eulogies. The association’s head office and various local committees’ Chairmans, office bearers, members, service corps participated in the March Past organized on the occasion of the sports event. The dignitaries received the Patha Sanchalana salute.

 

The association’s Vice Presidents Purushotham S. Kotian, Jayanthi V. Ullal, K. Suresh Kumar, Mohan C. Kotian, Hon.Jt. Secretaries Viswanath R. Tonse, Harish G. Poojari Kokkarne, Joint Treasurers Harishchandra G. Kunder, Rajit L. Suvarna, Sadashiv Y. Kotian, Ladies Wing Chairman Shakuntala K. Kotian, Seva Dal GOC Sharath G. Poojary, representatives of the local committees of the association, office bearers of various committees were present and participated in the various competitions organized.

 

Association’s Youth Welfare Committee Chairman Nilesh Poojary Palimaru welcomed the Gathering. Hon. Gen. Secretary of the Association Harish G. Salian introduced the guests and narrated the Stage program. Vaishnavi V Poojary preached sports vows. Hon.Treasurer Ravi S. Sanil and others managed the sport Event. Youth Welfare Committee Yogesh Poojary delivered the vote of thanks.
